THE SWINGLES ANNOUNCE NEW CHRISTMAS ALBUM OF ‘YULE SONGS Vol. II’
HOLIDAY RELEASE FEATURES TRADITIONAL CLASSICS ALONGSIDE ORIGINAL COMPOSITIONS, INCLUDING GUEST APPEARANCE BY AMERICAN JAZZ LEGEND
"I get to travel the world, performing, and am lucky enough to hear a lot of vocal groups, a lot of great singers. The Swingles are the best I have heard. They set the standard.”
– Kurt Elling, Cadogan Hall 16/11/15
“More superhero singing to truly raise goosebumps.”
- The Guardian 17/11/15
Following on from the success of their 2015 album ‘Deep End’, The Swingles end a particularly poignant year in their history with the release of a new collection of Christmas and winter-themed songs, out November 13th. The latest album in a tradition stretching back to 1968’s “Christmas Time,” this celebration of the holiday season is from a 2011 EP of “Yule Songs.”
Since the passing of founder Ward Swingle in January, the group has exhibited the innovation he inspired – and that has made the 5x Grammy winners a unique pop-culture phenomenon over the past 50 years - on ‘Deep End’ and now the timeless ‘Yule Songs Vol. II.’
Featuring original compositions as well as re-imaginings of standards such as ‘Silent Night’ and “Tidings,” the beautiful voices of The Swingles and the Winter holidays go hand-in-hand. On “The Thaw,” a bold original, the vocal ensemble is joined Kurt Elling himself.
Their voices have created atmosphere on numerous TV and film soundtracks including Sex And The City, Glee, Milk, Grey’s Anatomy and Wedding Crashers and now the vocal group will score Christmas with music as unique and captivating as ever.
