AFTER 25 YEAR HIATUS
LEGENDARY SONGWRITING AND PRODUCTION PARTNERSHIP
STOCK AITKEN AND WATERMAN [SAW] REUNITE
BACK IN THE STUDIO FOR THE FIRST OFFICIAL MIX BY SAW FOR KYLIE MINOGUE’S FORTHCOMING CHRISTMAS SINGLE!
London, 2 December 2015 | After a 25-year break, one of the UK’s most successful songwriting and production partnerships, the multi Ivor Novello award winning Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW) have reunited.
As the core of pop music between 1984 and 1993, their influence and contribution is irrefutable, with their defining and distinct sound.
Dubbed the Motown of the 80s, SAW had over 70 Top 10 hits during this period, 13 of which went to No.1, selling over 40 million records.
You’ll know the names – Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Banarama, Dead Or Alive, Donna Summers, Mel & Kim, Sonia and of course Rick Astley.
But after 25 years why now? Kylie Minogue.
Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman were approached by Kylie and her team to create a special SAW remix of her new single, Every Day’s Like Christmas. Written by Coldplay’s Chris Martin for her debut Christmas album, Kylie Christmas, how could they possible resist?
SAW commented: “25 years is a hell of long time since we last worked together. But over the past couple of weeks, it’s like we’ve never been away. Working together on the Kylie record has been a hoot and it’s been a real blast making music again!”
With the trio recreating their classic 80s sound via more modern measures (including doing mixes on their smart phones), the spark, the chemistry, all remained.
So for all those legions of fans, those who SAW provided the soundtrack of their life, and for all those who have discovered them since, Stock, Aitken and Waterman bring their unadulterated magic back to pop music once again.
